Here are a few of my favorites places to visit on the web: The Mandolin Cafe: www.mandolincafe.com The resource for all things mandolin. Operated by one of the best swing mandolin players I've ever heard, Scott Tichenor. JazzMando.com Ted Eschliman is a wonderful jazz resource, a fine businessman, musician, and good guy - there are few mandolin supporters as devoted as Ted. Arches Mandolins: www.archesmusic.com Chris Baird makes beautiful instruments in Moab, Utah, -- he built an amazing F5 for me -- plus he's a nice guy and terrific crafstman. Old Wave Mandolins: www.oldwavemandolins.com Bill Bussman builds wonderful mandolins, and an occassional guitar, banjo-like things, and cheese or melon shaped instruments. Intermountain Guitar and Banjo: www.guitarandbanjo.com Instrument dealers in Salt Lake City with an amazing inventory of vintage and new instruments of the highest quality. Elderly Music: www.elderly.com Music superstore in Lansing, MI. Great resource for books, CDs, and vintage instruments. Mass Street Music: www.massstreetmusic.com Always a fine collection of instruments for sale, and ardent supporters of MandoFest (R.I.P.). Located in Lawrence, KS. Greg Boyd's House of Fine Instruments: www.gregboyd.com Located in Missoula, MT, but I've only seen them at various festivals around the region. Great supporters of acoustic music, and purveyors of fine acoustic instruments. D'Addario Strings: www.daddario.com I play JS74 strings, the stainless steel version of the J74. I have to buy them just like everybody else. I'd love for them to see this and send me a box... :-) |

Band Links: John Boy's Mule - A great old-timey, newgrassy, bluesy acoustic funk band from Park City, Utah. I'm playing mandolin and tenor banjo. Check my calendar for show dates. Buckle Busters - Old-timey cowboy band with Tom Smart and Lewis Downey. I was lucky to be asked to join the Busters in 2005 after Dave Frank (the boy genius) moved to Massachussetts. Dave is missed, and the Buckle Busters should do more gigs. Blue Sage - Mike, Shauna, and Heather Iverson make the best acoustic/bluegrass/folk/swing/cowboy trio in Utah, if not the entire West. Mike is the preeminent clawhammer expert on the planet, not to mention a fine guitarist and mandolinist. Stone Fruit Trio - an acoustic funkjazzgrass trio (drums, bass, mandolin) stepping onto the scene Spring 2008. Keep your eyes open... |
