I'm happily accepting new mandolin, dobro, lap steel and guitar students - from beginner to advanced.
The mandolin is a versatile instrument that fits nicely into many musical genres. I can help you play bluegrass, folk, blues, rock, celtic, classical, or even a little jazz.
The dobro and lap steel can be played almost anywhere as well. It takes a different kind of skill, but it really requires learning how to listen - not only to what you're playing, but to what is going on around you and learning to fit in. It's a different animal but a lot of fun when you let it loose to run.
I also teach flatpicking on the guitar, which is typically associated with bluegrass playing, but all styles of guitar that use a pick have more in common than not. I can help you work on rhythm and melodic lead playing that can be used in any style of music except perhaps classical... I can help you work on bluegrass, folk, blues, rock, jazz. You get the idea.
The important thing is that we'll work together to identify your goals and outline practice routines to help you reach them. Of course, the ultimate goal is to help you express your own musical voice through your hands.
