I'm happily accepting new mandolin, dobro, and guitar students - from beginner to advanced.
The mandolin is a versatile instrument that fits nicely into many musical genres. I can help you play bluegrass, folk, rock, celtic, classical, or even a little jazz.
The dobro can be played almost anywhere as well. It takes a different kind of skill, but it really requires learning how to listen - not only to what you're playing, but to what is going on around you and learning to fit in. It's a different animal but a lot of fun when you let it loose to run.
I mainly teach flatpicking on the guitar, which is typically associated with bluegrass playing. I can also help you work on rhythm and melodic lead playing that can be used in any style of music except perhaps classical...
We'll work together to identify your goals and outline practice routines to help you reach them. Of course, the ultimate goal is to help you express your own musical voice through your hands.
